In the Music Room

This evening I had a truly great experience that I'd like to tell you about. I got to appear on "In the Music Room," an Internet radio program hosted by Randy Tredway and Helen Kennedy (www.InTheMusicRoom.com). Randy is famous in North Texas for hosting "Randy Tredway and Friends," a singer/songwriter showcase that has moved around between a number of local coffeehouses and other venues.

Randy sets a date every-so-often to tape songs and an interview with local and not-so-local songwriters. This evening I was there to do my show, and to meet Octavia, another singer/songwriter who was taping right after me--actually their 46th show since the beginning of the year. The studio is the size of a couple of large bedrooms, with a good selection of microphones, studio board, and digital recording equipment. At the other end of the room, a small but wonderful audience listens intently to the music (okay, a little intimidating at first) moving, grooving, and clapping after each song.

Randy and Helen conduct the interviews and keep things moving along, while Reno--the engineer--runs the buttons, and photographer Joy snaps pictures. It is a delightful time, with lots of great conversation and fellowship between musicians and interested followers of original music. There is plenty of time to talk about your songs, influences and background while your at it, which of course make the songs a bit richer for the listener.

Thanks Randy, Helen, et al, for a wonderful evening. I look forward to participating at one of your upcoming showcases at Dunn Bros. in Addison. Of course, you're always welcome to join us at any of the Collin County Songwriters Association gigs.
