Collin County Songwriters Association News

It’s official: the Collin County Songwriters Association has been granted 501(c)3 non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service! After two years, three false starts, and a lot of work, the association is now ready to start the “real” work. Plans include more expanded concert programs and seminars, education outreach to schools, and support of songwriters and musicians in North Texas in their efforts to advance and become known. We’d like to thank attorney Cynthia Hurley for providing just the right expertise and working hard to make this happen.

Day Job Refugee’s final 2008 Obzeet performance will take place on Halloween, Friday October 31, at 7:30. Join them for great music as they rock the patio one last time.

Steve Sullivan’s Dallas Songwriters Association/H.O.O.T. Showcase will take place at 7PM on Saturday, November 1 at Varsity Club Grill, 6205 Coit Road. Rich Macklin headlines. Don’t forget the Thursday night showcases, 7PM at The Filling Station—featuring four performing songwriters.

New Country artist Abbi Clair will hold a release party for her brand new 13 song CD at Coach Joes in Frisco on Nov 14, with a full band. They’re playing her music on KHYI 95.3.

The Anderson Acoustic Project with Steve Anderson will appear at It’s a Grind at 6959 Lebanon in Frisco on Saturday, November 1st at 7PM. Steve is one of the two the awesome owners of Anderson Guitar Gallery in downtown Frisco.

Classic rocker Ryan Michael Galloway will appear at Journeys Pub in The Zone, 7PM Saturday, November 8th, at Custer and Virginia Parkway (NE corner) in McKinney. He would also like you to know that he is available for corporate and private parties through the holiday season—the schedule is filling up fast.

“Songwriters – Second Saturday,” produced by Tredway and Friends with The City of Waxahachie and the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, will take place at Getzendaner Park in it’s historic Chautauqua Auditorium. Six songwriters perform a half-hour set starting at 7PM, and a four person songswap starts at 6PM, November 8, 2008.
